Packing For Vacation Can Feel Impossible
Hey Fashionistas! I know we have all been there before, you either overpack and end up dragging half your closet with you, or under-pack and realize you forgot the one outfit you were really excited to wear.
The trick isn’t cramming everything in. It’s packing with purpose and sticking to the pieces you actually love. Here’s what I do:
Plan Your Trip Day by Day
Map out my trip day by day. Think dinners out, sightseeing, or lounging by the pool. Plan outfits around what you’ll actually be doing.
Lay everything out before it goes in your suitcase, and take a quick photo of each outfit. It’s a game-changer. You won’t overpack, but you’ll still have a couple “just in case” pieces for weather surprises or spontaneous plans.
Packing Smart: Roll, Cube, Compress and Track
Now, let’s talk about the actual packing. Roll, don’t fold. Rolled clothes take up less space and stay wrinkle-free.
Use packing cubes to keep items organized: one for tops, one for bottoms, one for accessories. For even more space-saving, consider using vacuum-sealed bags, especially for bulkier items. They compress your clothes and give you extra room for the things you really want to bring.
It makes unpacking so much easier, especially if you’re traveling with family or kids.
Pro tip: Invest in a trackable Bluetooth device, such as an AirTag, so you can track where your luggage is without worry.
Carry-on Essentials
Your carry-on is basically your lifeline. Besides the essentials, I always keep my go-to makeup, a few favorite pieces of jewelry, and my trusty hairbrush.
Throw in a spare outfit in case your luggage takes a detour, and you’re good. Travel-size toiletries in a resealable bag are a total sanity saver, especially during airport security.
Pro tip: For nicer items you don’t want in your suitcase, use a garment bag. Airlines can hang it in the airplane for you (always check with the airline first).
The Finishing Touches
Before you zip your bag, do a quick weight check. Leave a little room for that new top or dress you spot while window shopping, or those fun finds you can’t resist.
Packing light and smart doesn’t just save space. It gives you freedom to enjoy your vacation without lugging around stuff you don’t need.
