Hi fashionistas!! Welcome to my new blog!
I am Abby Young, certified personal and editorial fashion stylist in the San Francisco Bay Area! I wanted to start this blog to keep you up to date with key fashion updates, news, trends, and tons of tips and tricks for your beautiful bodies!! My goal is writing FOR YOU; with that said, if there is something you would like to know or would like me to address, be sure to send me a message through my website or you can also find me on Instagram or LinkedIn.
I plotted out my career in fashion since high school. Being born and raised in Minnesota didn’t exactly align with a direct path into the fashion field but I eventually found my way there! After graduating from Bethel University, I began my career as an English teacher. After my initial two years of teaching, I took a break and worked as visual merchandiser at Urban Outfitters at the Mall of America. Realizing that I was feeling incomplete due to the fact that I wasn’t able to build long term relationships with customers, I left, went back into teaching, and got my Masters in Literature. This time round, students remarked, “Ms. Young, it looks like you’re walking down the runway!” (the aisle of desks) or “Everyday is like a fashion show for you!” I knew that I could not simply walk away from my passion for fashion.
As the urge to pursue my styling dream grew stronger, I got certified from the Fashion Stylist Institute and began my image consultant business during the Spring of my sixth year of teaching before embarking on a journey to California. Today I am a certified fashion stylist located in Silicon Valley. I have my Master’s Degree and am a member of the Association of Image Consultants International, certified in color analysis, and am a published editorial stylist.
I am beyond excited to continue my teaching career, but in a different way. I want my clients to feel beautiful, confident, and have a positive self-image!
Have you ever worked with a stylist or image consultant before? Have you undergone a career change or had to update your image before?
