Well the easy answer is: You put on clothes to cover your body.
The more complicated answer is: You put on clothes to reflect who you are, how you feel, or how you want to be perceived.
Everyone wears clothes but not everyone necessarily knows how to wear them. It is easy for someone to throw on clothes, but do they actually know why they are choosing to wear the clothes they are wearing? While getting dressed comes naturally to most people; how do you actually determine what you are going to wear?
- Do you dress depending on your mood?
- Do you dress to hide the way you feel?
- Do you dress to hide the way you look?
- Do you dress to make your mood better?
There is more to clothing and fashion than simply dressing to look “cool”. You can purposefully wear certain clothes to impact your mood in a positive way. You can also wear certain clothes to be perceived a certain way. Check out my guest post on the impact of wearing certain colors and color psychology!
No matter if you are still trying to figure out the answers to these questions or are confused, I am here to help you as your personal and professional fashion stylist.
